Trunk show at Bride boutique in LA!

 was in LA over Memorial Day weekend – soaking up the sun (and food and booze and fun) with my best girlfriends. And even though it was my first real trip away from my sweet, little family, and I missed them both so desperately, it was much-needed and appreciated, and I enjoyed every minute of it. I will say though, that flying on your own is COMPLETELY different when you NEED to get home. Like, when a person’s entire life would take on a heavy sadness if you didn’t make it back. That’s intense. Parenthood, you guys.

Everything was fine, of course, and I am so much more clear-headed after the break. And soft from all of the food. Restaurant recs:

While I was there, I also stopped in to visit Maria Diaz, owner of the completely charming Bride boutique in the Echo Park neighborhood. I took along a couple of gowns to show her all of the fancy little details, because …

… she’s hosting a trunk show starting this weekend! You do NOT want to miss this event. I know, because I get emails and tweets from you gorgeous LA girls on the regular, and I know Chicago is a very long trip for you. Because of that, we’re doing an extra long event – two whole weeks! May 31 – June 15. Be sure to book your appointment right away! Not only will you get to see the gowns in person, and check out all of the laces and bows on the INSIDE of the gowns, but you’ll also get to hang out with Maria, who is really so easy and sweet – you will have the best time.

Slime – sometimes called “Gak” – is a glob of goo that feels cool and creepy to the touch. In other words, it’s gross enough for kids to totally love it. You can buy it at the store, of course, but you can save some money and make slime at home. While borax is typically used to make slime, an alternative it to make it using cornstarch for a delightfully nasty- and totally non-toxic- slime that works great for your child’s birthday party, a Halloween party, a classroom activity or just to entertain the kids on a rainy day.

Ingredients

 

Cornstarch Slime

• 1 and 1/2 cups (350ml) of water
• 3 to 4 drops of food coloring
• 2 cups cornstarch

• 1.10-15 drops of food coloring      Add 1-1/2 cups (350ml) of water to a small saucepan. Heat until the water is warm but not hot or boiling. You do not want to use boiling water because then you will have to wait for it to cool before you can use your hands to mix the slime. 2.Pour 1 cup (250 ml) of the warm water into a bowl. Add three to four drops of green food coloring until the water is about a shade darker than you want the slime to be. When you make the slime, the color will be diluted slightly. Mix the water well with a spoon. 3.Measure 2 cups (140g/500ml) of cornstarch. Cornstarch is known as cornflour in the UK and elsewhere. Place it into a separate large-sized bowl.  4.Empty the colored water into the bowl with the cornstarch. Pour the colored water in slowly. Use your fingers to mix the ingredients together. Thoroughly blend the mixture into the consistency of a thick paste.

  Regulate the consistency of the slime. You can add more cornstarch if the slime is too thin. Add more warm water from the amount remaining in the pan if the mixture is too thick. This is a matter of personal preference.
  • Keep doing this as much as needed to obtain a mixture that is of the right slimy consistency for your needs. You should be able to put your fingers into the mixture easily. When you run your finger along the slime’s surface, it should feel dry. 
  • 6.Add items to the slime to make it extra fun (optional). You can use rubber worms, plastic insects or eyeballs, etc. This is a great idea for a Halloween party, a science party or for a party or camp based on nature or environmental themes.
  • 7.Place your slime into a plastic bag. Seal the bag well to preserve it.

1st you get 1 glass then get some paint it pink then put it in the glass.

let it dry in the sun then get it back get a towel and wipe in side the glass wear you put the paint on and then your take glue and decorate it then wipe down the glue  that drips then let it dry then all done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
